The Carolina Kite Festival is one of those events that makes you remember what we are all in this for. Don and Jeri Dixon put on this event for their customers and the city. Although they could make a lot of money if they allowed vendors, there are none, not even their store. A relaxed event, great people, and a pig picken to round it out. Who could ask for more?
I was at the other end of the field and could not hear who had built this magnificent arch, but it was one of the highlights of the day.
I put up my Octopus and Trilobite, along with the Dixon's Cat. The cat seemed to get bored after a bit and went for a walk.
We also put up the Dixon's mid size Trilobite. It flew well with its big brother.
Sunday lived up to its name with lots of sun and blue sky, I spent the day flying the Trilobite, Octopus and Cat.
One of the problems in writing this so long after the event , (SORRY!), is that I am having trouble remembering peoples names who I met at the event. That is sad because I met so many kind and gracious people, even for a kite event it was notable. I still am amazed that Mack Harris, the person grilling our pig, was burned when the grill exploded, but took the time to drop it off with someone else to finish cooking it on his way to the hospital. Now there is Southern Hospitality!
